Machine Learning Interest Group

Due to the rapidly increasing flow of data in society, widespread use of sensors in industry, and growing amounts of information on the Internet, there is a demand for efficient methods to analyze and find relevant structures in data, and use this for various purposes. Machine Learning is an area that covers a number of adaptive and autonomuos methods to extract the structures in large sets of data and then use the structures to for example classification, diagnosis, categorization, association, or control tasks. Related areas are "Autonomuos systems", "Biologically inspired algorithms", "Data mining", and "Knowledge representation".
